Danny & Shay

Danny found us on Instagram the way the best ones do. She scrolled past, felt it in her gut, and thought yes, that's exactly us. She was after something stress-free and a day that would just come together easily. Just something small, special, and completely theirs. From the very first chat it was obvious these two had life pretty figured out. The kind of people who'd rather be 4WDing at Stockton or setting up camp somewhere with their three kids and their Dalmatian, Snoop, than doing anything that didn't feel completely real. A Newcastle elopement was always going to suit them perfectly.

The Day

It started at the Rydges, the whole family getting ready together under the one roof. Nate, Sophia and Leo in the mix from the very beginning, which honestly set the tone for everything that followed. Danny and Shay didn’t want a day about grand entrances or keeping people apart for tradition's sake. It was just their family, doing their thing, getting ready to make it official.

By the time everyone arrived at Tatt Brat, the room already had that warmth you can't manufacture. Fourteen people who genuinely love each other, seated wherever they liked. Danni's mum and nan up front. Shay's crew filling the room.

The ceremony was quiet and deliberate in the best possible way. A witness lottery. The kids presenting the rings. The words "you may now share your first kiss" hanging in the air just long enough. Then a group photo, bubbles and white wine, and the send-off: head to Customs House, we'll see you there.

From Tatt Brat we took the two of them out into Newcastle. The steps, somewhere beachy, the kind of shots that look like you just woke up one day and decided to get married. Because really, that's exactly what they did. Newcastle's East End and coastline have a way of making elopement portraits feel effortless. Golden hour doing its thing.

Thinking about eloping in Newcastle? We'd love to make your day look and feel something like this.
